Dream Come True!

I had so much to do today.  As I made a mental note of everything I KNEW there would be no way to accomplish it all.  To add a fun twist to my plan JD ended up having an upset tummy and his first diaper rash ever today.  When to poor kid woke up from his afternoon nap I was in the middle of something.  While trying to finish up quickly so I could go get him the dogs started to bark like crazy.  I couldn’t figure out what was going on, and then Jeremy walked around the corner.  He was able to leave a couple hours early and since he knew I had a lot to do he came home to help me out.  IT WAS THE BEST EVER!   Since he came home I was able to get things done, including Christmas cards which we weren’t even going to do this year.  I still have to finish baking about 6 dozen cookies and clean the kitchen and bathroom, but that will be a piece of cake.  I just won’t go to bed for a few more hours.

A couple days ago I gave poor JD his first hair cut.  To save on money I just borrowed Art and Steph’s clippers and buzzed it.  He HATED it.  I took video but I can’t find the camera right now.  My plan was to take a family picture this weekend.  WELL it wasn’t very even so I tried to clean it up today and it’s now buzzed to obscurity.  Poor kid looks bald.  I really wanted to add a photo to the Christmas cards but the only recent family photo I had was this one from October and I didnt’ like all the stuff in the background.  After a couple calls to dad and a lot of  help from photoshop I ended up with a picture I felt ok printing up.  Don’t look too close but I think it turned out ok.  I’m hoping to get a good family picture taken next month when JD turns one.  Hopefully he’ll have more hair again by then.

Tomorrow will be a fun but busy day.  I am giving a massage at 9:30am, then my classmates are having a party in the afternoon.  It’s here so that’s why I have to clean tonight.  :-)   In the evening JD and I will be going to the ward Christmas party.  Jer is working at the Jazz game so he’ll miss all the fun but I’ll find the camera and take pictures for him (and everyone else).

I’d better stop procrastinating and get those cookies made and the place clean.  It’s so much more fun to clean to Christmas music.  I love you all!

(oh and PS if I can get all ya’ll to e-mail me your addresses for the Christmas cards that would be great.  My address book is in storage… so fun)

Crib Fun

Yesterday while I was attempting to study anatomy Katy decided it was a good time to rearrange JD’s room.  It’s nice to have a change in there, but during the process all his stuffed animals ended up in the crib with him.  He played the entire time we were moving things around.

Last night in anatomy we were learning about muscles, and about the heart.  I just started to cry, no warning, tears just started to fall.  It made me really kind of mad that I couldn’t control my emotions.  I’m not thinking everyone noticed but I still felt stupid.  I try not to think about my heart too much anymore, but learning about the nitty gritty of it last night just splashed in my face that mine doesn’t work like it’s supposed to and that it’s the reason JD’s our only child.  I know I’m so very blessed to have him, but every once in a while it’s hard not to get emotional about it.  I just wish it hadn’t happened during class.  Thank goodness I’ve made an amazing friend in the class and she was uber supportive.

Washer and Dryer!

For those of you that aren’t aware, we live with my parents.  My brother, his wife and their two boys live here as well in addition to our little family and my parents.  It’s a good sized house, so we aren’t quite as crowded as I’m sure some of your are picturing.  My sister in law has also turned out to be one of my best friends so it’s pretty nice most days.  Yes we have our moments, but doesn’t everyone.

The biggest headache in the house has been laundry.  We each have 2 laundry days a week.  This means my parents poor washer and dryer goes almost constantly.  It was pretty old to begin with, and the dryer was starting to take 2-3 cycles before things were dry.  Power bills have been climbing and it’s been taking us all quite a while to do even the simplest loads.  To solve the problem my brother and his wife went out and purchased a brand new front loading washer and dryer!  I know we are crazy but Steph and I sat on the floor last night and watched the first load for about 20 minutes.  I have finished up all our laundry in one evening and I’m even washing fun stuff like pillow’s and the comforter!  WAHOO!

Other than the new additions to the laundry room life has been about the same.  Poor JD still has 2 teeth coming in of the 4 top teeth that started to break through last week.  His ear infection is starting to clear up and he’s about back to his peaceful, wonderful self.

School is still just amazing.  One month down, 11 to go!  The hardest thing right now is the anatomy class, and with lots of studying I’ve aced every test.  Mom is starting to enjoy the benefits of being homework and I value all the honest feedback I get from family when I work on them.  It’ll be a lot easier when I actually get my massage table.

I value every minute I get to see Jeremy.  He is such a hard worker and provider for our family.  With the crazy hours at the radio station he is often up in Salt Lake all day.  With me going to school at night he is asleep when I get home.  Once or twice a week he even ends up staying with his family up there so that he doesnt have to drive all the way home and then get up early to trek back up there.  I rarely, if ever, hear him complain or grumble about the drive or long hours.  JD loves it when he is around and I can’t get over how much he loves playing with his daddy.

I’m including some pictures.  The first one is JD with my cousin Nic, she is probably his favorite person ever.  Picture number two is JD and my Grandma Gordon on the same day.  We were at the pool for a family reunion.  The last one is of JD and Grant (aka the Ukrainian baby) .  Masha is a good friend of ours and Grant is her little one, Steph watches him sometimes.  He’s about 2 months older than JD and they love eachother.

Busy Woman!

Last week I feel like I got so much accomplished!  It all started with a personal goal of deciding that I was going to make our bed everyday.  I then realized that if I was going to make the bed our room might as well be clean.  Our bed was also covering the A/C vent in our room.  All of these lovely factors meant that I tore apart our room, moved everything around and then made it all nice and spiffy.  I’ve realized that by simply making my bed every day the room has stayed clean and I am more productive over all.  These pictures of my room (and Daisy) were taken by Brighton.  We just found them on the camera after he’d been in the room.  I love the first one of Daisy.  Pretty good for a 2 year old don’t you think?

I had to rearrange JD’s room also.  I went to get him from a nap a couple weeks ago and he looked up at me with a wad of the curtains in his hand.  Needless to say that isn’t a good thing.  The room is quite small and so it was a bit tricky to move things around.  In that tiny room we have a love seat, our small TV/entertainment center, our DVD’s, a crib and plastic storage drawers.  I’m quite pleased with the end result.  It’s a bit crowded but no worse than it was before.  As a matter of fact I like it better.

While taking care of moving our TV I decided to hook up the replacement DVD player that we’d just gotten in the mail (our 3rd one since we were given the origional 2 years ago).  I hooked everything up, went to pop in a DVD to test in and TADA, the tray would only open 1/2 inch.  I called and was quite lucky to get someone who took one look at our file and said they would just send us a brand new unit and not a referbished one.  I was quite thrilled since it saved me the trouble of asking for one.

I also filled the rest of my week with laundry, dishes, taking JD to the doctor and making a baby quilt for Jeremy’s brother and his wife. I used some cute green flannel and one Moda Charm Pack (5×5 inch squares).  I should have started it sooner, but I put it off and didn’t get going until the day before she was in the hospital.  Mom helped by handing me squares and with hand stitching the binding.  I just straight stitched the 9 small squares on the quilt and around the border since I didn’t have time to get it all quilted.  I thought it turned out well considering I was up till 5am.

Sunday was Jeremy’s birthday so we had a great time celebrating with family.  Besides JD being “off” the last few days it’s been a truly spectacular week and I’m excited for another one.  The only thing I wasn’t great at last week was blogging.  I find that I am getting better at reading all my family and friends blogs but by the time I’m done with that I don’t have time left to blog myself!  I need to start with my blog first.  I also don’t have time to comment on other’s blogs, Just so you all know, I’m reading still.  ;-)

It’s Me Again… Hello

I have post’s ready for last Sunday and Monday, however my camera battery died so I’m waiting to post them until I can get the pictures off the camera.  I just finished up Tuesday (it had a TON of pictures) and so there are posts from last Tuesday-today!  YAHOO.

The nurse that comes once a month to see how JD is doing just left.  He’s already 15 lbs. 15 oz!  He gained almost a full pound in a week and a half.  He’s almost grown an inch too.  What a cute little monster.

I’d better stop procrastinating and get the cleaning done.  I won’t be able to do it after tomorrow.  :-P

Woah Woah, More Pictures

Tonight I FINALLY got JD’s room/our Family room finished!  Mom and KK helped a ton and Trish was a huge help again by watching the kiddo.  Living in the two small rooms can be quite a challenge, but it is teaching me to be better organized.

Here is an awesome picture Trish took of Uno yesterday when they went to the park.  I’m going to use it for the Baby announcements I never got around to making.  ;-)

Other than cleaning up JD’s room today was a whirlwind.  We got our car window’s tinted and the plates put on.  I had them check a light that was on in the dash while I was at the dealership and it took well over an hour to check and I wasn’t expting to wait.  I am glad I stuck around however because apparently our brake light sensor was faulty and out brake lights hadn’t been working.  It’s all fixed now.  Jer and I also ran to Cosco with mom, it was crazy busy, what were we thinking.   Everything seemed to take longer than expected but it all ended well because the rooms are now done and it makes me SO happy.  It’s amazing how much better I feel when things are in their place.  Dealing with a newborn and the health stuff has been hard enough, but doing it with a messy living space has been a nightmare.  YAY for things being clean!!!

Baby Free

Trish decided to watch JD for me a little this afternoon.  I believe all the kids, (along with Trish and Steph) were headed to a local park.  Since he’s been gone I’ve been running around like a mad woman getting things cleaned up.  My bedroom is almost done and hasn’t looked this good since the little one was born!  His room is next and I’m hoping I have time to get it done, along with the last of the laundry, before she brings him home.

Last night was much better than previous ones.  It could be that at one point I gave up and pulled JD into bed with me to sleep.  He slept for almost 4 hours straight and it was awesome for me to catch up a little.  I am glad I am more rested than normal because today I found out I’ll be needing surgery in the next couple of weeks.  To make a very long story short, I developed Mastitis in my right breast.  After 2 rounds of antibiotics and it just getting worse and growing I was sent in for an ultrasound to have it looked at today.  It’s turned into a big, ugly, and very painful abscess.  I meet with a surgeon on the 11th.  I’m glad it’s not an emergency and needing to be done sooner, however the pain makes me wish I didn’t have to wait quite so long.  I’m not thrilled about the whole situation, considering I have to talk to my cardiologist about the heart and surgery and what not… but what can you do.  Guess it is a good thing we decided I should stop working. The good news is that there were two other lumps the doctor found that he was really concerned about.  The ultrasound showed them to be cysts and not tumors.  YAY!  I like good news.

I WILL get pictures up tonight, I just want to get everything else done first before I either crash and burn or JD gets home!

Doctor Appointment Wednesday

Jeremy and I headed to the Doctor today for my Glucose test and our normal check up.  If you want details they are on the pregnancy blog.  Everything seems to be going well.  Little Uno has been super active the past few days. The doctor told me not to wait so long to call in next time he seems to be moving less.  It made me feel better about our trip into Hospital on Sunday.

The rest of my day is going to be filled with laundry, and straightening/unpacking our little family room/nursery.

Unexpected Blessings

I have to say one of the biggest unexpected blessings is that the restrooms at our chapel are so clean! I know this doesn’t mean a lot to most of you but today, and I was laying on the floor and leaning over the toilet it was such a relief that it was spic and span. Yesterday was a long one and I’m wondering if I’m going to loose all the weight that I’d gained these past few weeks.

Jeremy was really upset about missing a friends Halloween party last night but I was so thankful that he’d stay home and go to bed early with me since I was feeling so poorly. I know if he was missing the chance to wear his Burger King mask that he really loves me!

The World Keeps Spinning

Yesterday was a busy one.  Steph and I started to work around 9 or 10am and I finally left mom and dad’s with Jeremy at 12:30am (granted I didn’t do nearly as much as Steph!).  We were trying to help out Trish by cleaning the old rooms they had and also getting them prepped for a very busy weekend.  Not to mention there are carpet cleaners coming today.  Steph and I are quite handy in case you are wondering.  We are great puttiers, installers, scrubbers, and tapers.  I couldn’t really help a lot with painting but Mom and Steph had a handle on that.  The only causality was a new light fixture I was installing and used an incorrect screw on.  Dad had to come finish the job but just an FYI I did all the wiring myself.

Moving is one of my least favorite things.  It has it’s perks like de-junking and the like.  I feel like my home is never as clean as the day I move in and the day I move out.  You can reach all the nooks and crannies on those special empty days!  Moving however is very stressful.  I’ve done it MANY times.  Sometimes it’s gone super smoothly and sometimes (our last move) it drug on forever and you never really got things all moved.  Every time, regardless of the move it’s been a stress.  This one has been multiplied by a few things:

  • Pregnancy, I can’t do a lot of what I used to be able to do.  I still do too much when others aren’t around but when they are I’m told to sit down.
  • Job options.  Jeremy has a job interview in Houston next week and if we decide to take the job it will mean another move and not quite the salary we’d need to get by.  Not to mention that I’d have to stay here till the baby is born.  Apart for 4-5 months…  A lot to think about, so much more complicated than I can blog about.
  • Family moving.  With other members of the family also moving it’s hard to try and help everyone (especially mom and dad with the house) and get your own stuff done.  I can’t thank Mom enough for her amazing generosity and also for all the gratitude for the hard work we’ve been doing.

Today I’m at our apartment and it’s hit home how much we need to do to get ready for the move this weekend.  While I’ve done some packing here and there over the past weeks I still have plenty to do and not a lot of time to do it.  Good thing I’m a great packer.  I once packed up most of a 2 bedroom apartment in a matter of a morning and early afternoon!  Granted I’m slowed down today a little by baby Uno but I have faith I can knock this out in the next couple days.  It does mean I probably won’t be online much, I know you’ll be sad but it’ll have to be that way.  :-)

Sorry this is a long one.  Emotions are pretty close to the surface right now.  I’m sure you all understand.  I just needed to focus a bit before diving into the prep for the move.  :-)   Love you all.
